Linz

Linz, capital of Upper Austria, lies on both banks of the Danube. It owes its industrial expansion first to river then railway traffic. Talented men have left their mark here: the astronomer Kepler, the musicians Mozart and Beethoven or, closer to our time, the Austrian writer Adalbert Stifter. But Linz cherishes the memory of Anton Bruckner who has given his name to a famous international classical music festival.
