Built on a rock and encircled by ramparts overlooking the sea, the “pearl of the Adriatic” has forgotten the bombing which took place between 1991 and 1992 and regained its former splendour. The narrow streets of the old town vie for pride of place with the charm of the small flowered squares and polished paving stones. One day is not long enough to do justice to the town's countless monuments: Pile Gate, fortifications, Franciscan and Dominican monasteries, Sponza palace, churches etc.
