Ostrava

Krakow is the historic capital of Poland: a place of deep religious significance, the final resting place of the Kings of Poland, the site of the venerable university where Nicholas Copernicus studied and Pope John Paul II attended the seminary. It seems almost miraculous that the city escaped destruction during the Second World War. The exceptional architectural heritage is a result of the influence of Casimir the Great (14C). This influence extended beyond the city and well into the 16C with the arrival of the Italian Renaissance.
