Valletta

The name suggests that this was the town of the Siculi. The first inhabitants settled at some height on the San Matteo hill. Later, the Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Normans came to disturb the Siculi, while providing them with their culture and art. Unfortunately, the 1693 earthquake ravaged Scicli and destroyed traces of this ancient past.
