San Marino

The capital of the small independent Republic of San Marino (44 sq kms), is one of the smallest States in the world, situated 24 km Southeast of Rimini in an admirable site on the slopes of Mount Tutano. The "comic opera" republic, which mints its own coins and issues its own stamps, has its own army and police force. Its revenue comes mainly from tourism, but also from stamp collecting, the craft industry and business.
