The archeological collections come from the Antiquarium founded in 1763 by Prince-Elector Karl Theodor. Make a point of seeing the Greek and Etruscan vases (from the Mycenaean period through the 3C AD) and the stone commemorative monuments from Roman provinces. The folklore collections largely concern the Indian and Pacific civilizations. There is a very fine Benin collection.
