St Anna-Kirche
Annastraße D - 86150 Augsburg
The Church of St-Anne was formerly part of a Carmelite convent where Martin Luther found sanctuary in 1518. Its Late Gothic architecture contrasts with its Rococo decorative features. Note the Fugger Funeral Chapel which is considered to be the first example of the Italian Renaissance in Germany. At the high altar, see the portrait of Martin Luther by Lucas Cranach the Elder. The Goldsmith's Chapel has retained its original Gothic structure and murals.
