Apart from a huge coin collection, the municipal history museum possesses superb items in amber on loan from the museum in Königsberg, with which the town is twinned. A collection of globes and atlases pays tribute to the Netherlands cartographer Gerardus Mercator, who died in Duisberg in 1594.
