The museum has collected works by the masters of German Expressionism, including artists Paula Modersohn-Becker, Jawlensky, Macke, Nolde, Müller and Rohlfs and sculptors Barlach, Kolbe and Kollwitz. The rooms devoted to international art from the 1960s to the 1980s are also very instructive.
