St Thomas's Church
Thomaskirchhof 18 D - 04103 Leipzig
This 13C church took on its current three-nave form as a church in the late 15C. Martin Luther preached a sermon here during Pentecost in 1539, at the time of the introduction of the Reform. It is famous for Johann Sebastian Bach, who was «cantor» here and who rests in the church, but also for the Thomanerchors, a choir from the school of St Thomas founded in the 13C. Today, it has 90 singers and performs during vespers on Fridays and Saturdays.
