The links between Extremadura and Latin America are well known and are very close: the emigrants have now succeeded the conquistadors, such as Cortes, Pizarro or Orellana. This museum, set up in the old Badajoz prison transformed by J.-A. Galea, wishes to follow this privileged relationship by means of a collection of contemporary art containing artists from Portugal, Extremadura and Latin America, also showing the various artistic trends on either side of the Atlantic.
