Inaugurated in 2002, Artium is now acknowledged as an important museum of contemporary art. Its purpose is to bring current art to light and make it more accessible through permanent and temporary exhibitions. It houses a magnificent collection comprising over 1 800 works by Spanish artists from the 1920-1930 decade to the present time. Names as significant as Picasso, Miró, Gargallo, Tàpies, Canogar, Palazuelo, Oteiza, Barceló, Iglesias, Urzay, Badiola... offer a comprehensive account of Spanish art.
