The museum consists of around a hundred 18C and 19C buildings (the numbers given below are those used by the museum). The Niemelä farm (7) shows that the sauna could be used as a temporary shelter. The Church of Karuna (8) is the oldest building (1686); the Carelian Pertinotsha (19) farmhouse is made of logs, and the agricultural buildings Antti (25) divided between the two courtyards illustrate the lifestyle of a rich family in a southwest farm. The Lapp village (27) includes lofts perched on posts to protect their contents from animals.
