The National Glass Centre is a museum dedicated to the manufacture of glass. The various stages of production are shown with stained glass, vases and drinking glasses. The many uses of glass in the modern world are also evoked, particularly in the fields of astronomy, medicine, entertainment, information and space technology. The history of glass in the area, which has a long glassmaking tradition, is well illustrated. Splendid rooftop views of the River Wear and the North Sea.
