Walled Town
GB - York YO 1
The walk around the Walls embraces the whole of medieval York. Besides the cathedral, you will go past York Castle Museum, now located in two buildings that were formerly the Debtors Prison (1705) and the Female Prison (1777). Then head for the Georgian Fairfax House (1755) and afterwards the Jorvik Viking Centre. You will now be two steps from Shambles, one of York's most picturesque streets, which will take you into the historic city centre.
