Catherine-Zrinski Square
HR - 10000 Zagreb
This rectangular square is a tribute to the sister of Krsto Frankopan, wife of Petar Zrinski and poet, who retired to an Italian convent after her husband's execution in 1671. You will see Kulmer palace, part of which is home to the Museum of Contemporary Art (Muzej Suvremene Umjetnosti). Opposite is Dverce palace, built in the early 18C and reworked in a historicist style and now used to accommodate the town's distinguished guests. Also note the akademia, first secondary school of Zagreb (1607) and the lovely church of St Catherine.
