Freedom Bridge

With its length of 331 m, this fine example of metal architecture is one of the most original ones in the city. It is attributed to three engineers: János Feketeházy, Aurél Czekélius and Virgil Nagy. Baptised as the François-Joseph bridge, it was inaugurated in 1896 by the Emperor himself. It took its current name in 1946, the year of its reconstruction. The mythical bird, the turul decorates the four towers which stand over its supports.
