Piazza G. Matteotti
Piazza G.Matteoti I - 16123 Genova
On the via San Lorenzo stands the piazza G. Matteotti, dominated by the monumental façade of the palace of the Doges (1178), whose South side overlooks the piazza De Ferrari. This is also where the prestigious Carlo Felice theatre stands (partially destroyed in 1944, but rebuilt and reopened in 1993) along with several other palaces. On the same square stands the church of Gesù, built by Tibaldi in 1597, which contains the Assumption by Guido Reni and two canvases by Rubens.
