The Dome was entirely rebuilt in the 20C in the original Norman style. The central door of the façade was even rehung with original elements, dating from the 15C. It is surrounded by small columns supported by lions and decorated, in the lunette, with a 16C Madonna and Child. The entire façade with sailants is broken by ogival arched windows and a small central rose window.
The interior of the building contains a beautiful herringbone ceiling, painted in accordance with the original model, which was destroyed by the bombing in the last war. You will notice the ridged beams, decorated with oriental looking roses.
Another highpoint of the visit is the treasure, which includes a fine collection of sacred objects and ornaments. Amongst the exhibits, the Pigna, a rock crystal lamp is the oldest piece, dating from the Early Middle Ages. You can also admire the beautiful pieces of gold and silver work: chandeliers, chalices and in particular, a beautiful 17C monstrance. with two angels and a pelican, surmounted by a shining sun.
