There were two \"Royal Ladies\" here: Christine of France, widow of Victor-Amadeo I and Jeanne of Savoy-Nemours, widow of Charles-Emmanuel II. They lived in this palace built on top of Roman remains of the Porta Pretoria. The eastern facade, by Juvara, was designed to be part of a vast reconstruction project in the 18th C. But during the construction Jeanne left for a better world... work didn't go on without her!
