Sonja Henie Modern Art Centre
Sonja Henies vei 31 N - 1311 Høvikodden
This modern art centre enjoys a magnificent setting on the banks of a fjord. It was opened in 1968 to house 300 works donated by the figure skater Sonja Henie (1912-1969) and her shipowner husband. The collection has since expanded and constitutes Norway's largest collection of international modern art. The centre rotates its pieces. The major movements of the 20C are well represented: Cubism (Braque, Juan Gris, Picasso), Surrealism (Miró, Ernst), Cobra Group (Jorn and Appel), and Abstract art.
