| Blaafarveværket N - 3340 Åmot i Modum | ||||||
| This former industrial site of disused mines was converted into a museum dedicated to the history of cobalt mining and the ties between the site and the art world. 1883 saw the first Open-Air Academy exclusively for Norwegian artists, including Edvard Munch. Visitors can see workers' houses, the technical director's house, a school, grocer's and the glassworks where crushed cobalt was transformed into blue pigment. A waterfall generated the energy required for the crushing process. | ||||||
