St Peter's Church
S - Malmö
This imposing brick church was built on the model of Marienkirche (Lübeck) at the beginning of the 14C, when Malmö was part of the Hanseatic League. The interior is light and high, the rib vault resting on slender pillars. Krämarkapellet (chapel) has retained its medieval frescoes. Among the ornaments worthy of particular note are the 15m-high altarpiece (1611), the finely sculpted sandstone and black tufa pulpit (1599) and the octagonal baptismal fonts (1601), the last two being the work of the same artisan, Daniel Tommisen.
