Charming little village with cobbled streets and painted timber houses. Its delicious polkagrisar is barley sugar with mint, which you can see being made. The Andrée Museet retraces the attempt made by Swedish scholar Salomon August Andrée (1854-1897) to fly over the North Pole in a hot-air balloon in 1897. The flight ended in disaster when the aeronauts perished as they tried to return on foot. Their frozen bodies were found on the Spitzberg with various objects 33 years later. Gränna became Sweden's main aerostation centre.
