Before meandering off to the shore, sojourn at Frantoio located just a stone's throw from Highway 101. What it lacks in location, it makes up for with its delicious Northern Italian cuisine. Italian for "olive press," Frantoio makes its very own olive oil on-site in November and December, and you can even watch the process behind a large window in the back of the barn-like room. While lingering at the bar, pick up their floppy leather menu and ogle the ample and fine selection of Italian food. It can get frantic here as high ceilings reverberate with animated conversations over spreads like pizza salsiccia with San Marzano tomatoes, sweet Italian sausage, and smoked mozzarella; or homemade pappardelle with pulled braised local rabbit and wild mushrooms.
