Norman Rose Tavern

Cuisine : Gastropub

The inspector's view

For everyone who is lagging after the dragging from winery to winery and just wants an ice-cold pint at the end of a hoity-toity day, this place is for you. Those of you who just perked up should cruise over to Norman Rose Tavern, one of the few spots in the Valley with a true-blue penchant for a burger and a PBR (or micro-brew on tap). Plentiful bar seating, walls lined with reclaimed barn wood, and a ceiling of empty "decorative" beer bottles leave no one doubting the theme. Chef Michael Gyetvan gets it—never mind that his resume includes stints at One Market and Tra Vigne. At his approachable American pub, find plump all-beef hot dogs with tangy relish; milk-braised pork shoulder with gravy and sausage grits; and highbrow junk food at its very best.
