The Michelin Guide's review
This sprawling red abode is made up of two casas. The Quinta da Calçada was the home of Frederico de Freitas, notary and lawyer, from 1941 until his death in 1978. It showcases a fine collection of furniture, including splendid cabinets embellished with ivory and whale bone, "sugar box"-style wardrobes and ceramics, etc. The Casa dos Azulejos boasts a fine collection of 12C-19C azulejos of different origins (Portuguese, Spanish, Flemish, Chinese, Iranian, etc.).
