Vecchio Ristoro

Michelin Guide
Worth the step
Cuisine from the Aosta Valley
The Michelin Guide's review
Situated in the heart of the historic centre, this charming 17th-century former mill welcomes guests into an atmosphere that evokes the essence of the most authentic mountain life. The original features, such as the millstone and the old wheel, blend elegantly with the refined surroundings and attentive service, orchestrated by Paolo Bariani, a partner in the establishment and a passionate wine connoisseur. With a range of over 300 wines, many of which are also available by the glass, the wine cellar offers a well-balanced selection that combines renowned wines with interesting niche productions. In the kitchen, from spring 2026, Tommaso Lupo will be taking over the reins under the supervision of Filippo Oggioni, who will continue to oversee the project while embarking on a new professional venture in Lombardy. The culinary offering remains firmly rooted in the flavours of the Aosta Valley, reinterpreted with a contemporary sensitivity and enriched by elegant nods to the neighbouring French tradition. There is no shortage of original combinations of land and sea, such as free-range chicken and blue lobster in a fricassee. The dishes are available as part of various tasting menus, including a vegetarian option, or à la carte, depending on inspiration and the quality of the day’s market produce.
