Although its namesake — a Cajun werewolf boogeyman — might be fearsome, this neighborhood haunt could hardly be more inviting. The menu is a shifting tapestry of Southern flavors, brought together with a bold contemporary style in dishes that are both comforting and lively. "Chicken on a stick" sounds prosaic, but this skewer of juicy, lightly crunchy fried chicken (inspired by a beloved Mississippi roadside staple) dusted with spice and resting on a bed of sweet jalapeño jelly, is anything but typical. The likes of broccolini with country ham XO and finely shaved mimolette, or koji-cured pork steak with a leafy cabbage salad dressed with chowchow vinaigrette show similar flair. Cocktails accented with wine, herbs and vegetables make for intriguing accompaniments.
