The Michelin Guide's review
Upon arrival, you are greeted by a sensational backdrop – let your gaze linger on the Nigl family vineyard and the vine-covered slopes, with the castle ruins, Burgruine Senftenberg, looming above. In addition to the wine estate with its delightful courtyard, a hotel and a shop, there is a charming restaurant. Chef Bertram Nigl presents a menu featuring regional and French classics, such as "Grandma Nigl's traditional Waldviertel-style Grammelknödel (potato dumpling stuffed with greaves)" and "braised beef roulade with Schupfnudeln (potato dumplings), Brussels sprouts and carrots". Everything is carefully prepared with attention to detail, and the flavours are robust. The outdoor dining area is a truly special place, to be enjoyed in fine weather.
