The Michelin Guide's review
The road takes its name from the remains of the redoubts it runs alongside. The first part of the route climbs steeply and soon reveals the superb scenery of the Nive de Béhérobie valley. After the second hairpin bend, where the path joins the road again, there is an orientation table on the left to help you find your bearings. Muffled by the wind and concentrating on their walk, the pilgrims can't hear the cars coming, so drive carefully.
