Warm water, golden sand and tourist resorts make Lake Chelan one of the state of Washington's favorite leisure areas. The lower section of this narrow lake (over 90km/55mi long) is lined by barren hills dotted with apple orchards and wineries. The upper portion meanders between the summits of the Cascades Range, culminating at 2440m/8005ft high. The recreation areas revolve around the charming village of Stehekin.
