  The Michelin Guide's review
The Cistercians built San Nicola, a Romanesque-Gothic transition-style church, out of tufa in the 13C. One of the chapels is home to the sarcophagus of Hippolytus and Phaedra (2C), in reference to the impossible love of Phaedra for her son-in-law. He paid no attention to her advances, so she accused him of rape and had him banished from the kingdom.
