Occupying a neo-Classical building dating from 1869, the university's archaeological museum houses fine collections of antiquities from the Near-East, Egypt, Ancient Greece and Rome. The series of Egyptian funerary masks, the Greek kouros known as the "kouros of Amsterdam", and the collection of Greek red-figure vases are all of particular interest.
