The Michelin Guide's review
Thuparama is the oldest and holiest Buddhist temple of Anuradhapura, built by the monk Mahinda to enshrine the right collar-bone of Buddha. It was to serve as a model for Sinhalese Buddhist shrines. A forest of pillars, thirty of which have survived the ravages of time, surrounds the holy relic.
