Monumental steps lead to St Patrick's Cathedral, an unadorned neo-Gothic building with twin spires, stationed on top of a hill. Building began in 1840 and was only completed in 1873. The ceiling of the nave is decorated with lovely frescoes depicting the life of St Patrick; the perimeter is embellished with mosaic medallions representing the patron saints of Ireland's 20 dioceses.
