Dug out of the granite, the deep, arid Asco gorges are dwarfed by jagged mountains of the likes of Cima a i Mori and Mount Terello. The slopes are dotted with beehives. In the vicinity of the Asco, the right bank is very arid, while the left is dotted with junipus oxycedrus. Amazingly agile cows wander freely over the roads and banks, often scampering up the hillsides.
