The Michelin Guide's review
This abbey is one of the few medieval churches where mass has been celebrated continuously for over 750 years. It is a beautiful example of Western Ireland's Romanesque school. The nave was completely rebuilt in 1270 after being destroyed by fire. The cloisters are now in ruins but some of the 13C elements remain, particularly the Treasury and the Chapter House (east gallery).
