The Michelin Guide's review
The magnificent cathedral of Bayeux, built under the reign of William the Conqueror in the 11C, today depicts a wonderful mixture of Romanesque and Gothic architectures. The bishop of Bayeux, who was none other than Odon, William's half-brother, ordered an immense tapestry, known worldwide as the famous "tapestry of Bayeux" (visible in the Bayeux Tapestry Museum) to adorn this masterpiece. The crypt and the towers are all that remains of the original Romanesque edifice.
