The Michelin Guide's review
Created in 1967, at the confluence of the Drave and the Danube, very close to Osijek, this 177km²-park is dubbed the "Amazon of Europe". Enjoying special status since the 17C, it is part of 3,900km² of wetlands and forests that became a UNESCO biosphere in 2012. It offers shelter to 293 species of migratory and sedentary birds, together with countless mammals, fish and batrachians. Best discovered during a boat ride and a walk along signposted paths.
