 Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
Begun in 1443 for Charles VII's famous master of the mint, this splendid abode was probably intended to become his last retreat. However, Jacques Coeur fell into disgrace and never enjoyed it. A fine example of Gothic civil architecture, the chateau is dotted with Jacques Coeur's motto: "À vaillans riens impossible", (To the brave, nothing is impossible). Its elegant and lavish decoration, steam room and superb vaulted south gallery are quite remarkable.
