The Michelin Guide's review
The Atomium was created for the 1958 World Fair. This iron structure designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn represents a crystal molecule, enlarged 165 billion times. It is made up of nine 18m-diameter spheres, joined together by tubes through which visitors can move around the structure. The sculpture-like building is 102m high. A lift leads to the upper sphere, where visitors can enjoy one of the best views of Brussels and its surrounding area. Panoramic restaurant at the top.
