This museum was inaugurated to accept bequests on behalf of the nation from patrons and art lovers. Reflecting the varying taste of the donors, it draws together items from diverse eras and origins; oriental art (Persian carpets), Japanese art (bronzes) and Romanian modern art (works by Gheorghe Petrascu, Stefan Lucian, Rodica Maniu). It also has bas-reliefs from the monastery of Vacaresti.
