Historical and archaeological site
The Michelin Guide's review
Quilmes is a major archaeological site, where the ruins of what was, between the 9C and 17C, a great city have been excavated and restored (houses, workshops etc). Founded by the indigenous Quilmes, the city is thought to have been inhabited by up to 3 000 people, before they were exiled and most perished. Today, the Quilmes Indians assert the sacred nature of the site. Be sure to climb the hill to take in the sweeping view from the top.
