The appeals of Castlewellan Forest Park (450 ha) include an imposing Scottish baronial style 19C castle (closed to the public) which overlooks a huge lake, prized by anglers. The walls of Annesley Garden are also home to an extensive arboretum. The 5km/3mi-Sculpture Trail around the lake is dotted with modern sculptures. An early 19C farmhouse has been turned into a cafeteria and an information centre.
