The Volcán de Yacoraite is a spectacular table mountain, red bordered with bright yellow, nicknamed el Cerro Amarillo (the "yellow hill"). The best view is from the bridge over the river of the same name, on the outskirts of Colonia San José. Climbing the hill also provides an opportunity to see petroglyphs and pre-Colombian ruins.
