Risnjak National Park nestles deep in the heart of the rugged landscapes of Gorski kotar, sometimes called "Swiss Croatia", no doubt preserved thanks to their remoteness. The terrain is depicted by karst features whose strange shapes have formed dolines and sinkholes, while its thick pine forests provide shelter to rich and varied flora and wildlife (stags, deer, boar, lynx, wolves and bears). Best explored along the discovery path of Leska and around Lake Lokve.
