  The Michelin Guide's review
The DMZ, a 4km wide, 250km long demilitarised zone, was set up at the end of the Korean War (1950-53) to separate South Korea from North Korea. Travel agencies play on the spectacular and unhealthy curiosity to attract visitors to this gulf separating two worlds. Don't go there for that: you might be disappointed. Instead, go there to see with your own eyes the material reality of a division. Under high surveillance, this is a rather surreal place.
