Sir Archibald Primrose (1616-1679) purchased this property in 1662. Two centuries later, Sir Archibald, the 4th Earl of Rosebery, commissioned William Wilkins to build this neo-Gothic house. The house contains extensive collections of furniture, porcelain, tapestries and paintings, collected by the Earls of Rosebery over the last three centuries.
