The Michelin Guide's review
Monks played a prominent role in the history of Daoulas. Initially founded in the 5C, after being destroyed by the Vikings, it was rebuilt by the monks in the 12C, thereby securing the site's prosperity until the Revolution. Today, the abbey is an International Cultural Centre and organises artistic, archaeological and ethnographic events and exhibitions. Its Romanesque cloisters (1167-1173) boast decoration that combines geometrical patterns and foliage motifs. It has a medicinal garden laid out on two large terraces.
